French stamp Yvert et Tellier No. 4802 mint never hinged. This stamp depicts Bernard of Clairvaux, a French monk of the 11th century, reformer of religious life, who was the spiritual director and promoter of the Cistercian order. He is shown on the stamp holding the book of the Rules of Citeaux. He was canonized in 1174, just 21 years after his death, and became Saint Bernard of Clairvaux.
