The coin with head of lion

It is the one of the very first coins of the history: the coin with one or more heads of lion was struck in Sardes, old town of Asia Mineure and capital of the Lydie, between 610 and 560 before Jesus-Christ. It is king Alyattès who gave the order of emission of these coins manufactured out of electrum, a mixture of gold and money. The lion was its emblem!

Napoleon 20 francs

This coin was struck for the first time in 1803. It has the characteristic to contain 5.8 grams of pure gold. The gold coins Napoleon will be struck until 1914. They do not represent necessarily Napoleon Bonaparte but most required are those which raise Marianne Coq or a portrait of Napoleon III.

The thaler of Marie-Therese

This coin comes from Austria and was struck for the first time in 1741. It represents Marie-Therese 1st, archduchess of Austria and queen of Hungary. The thaler of Marie-Therese marked the history because it is one of the first international currencies. In fact, this coin does not have a facial value but was used for the trade, in particular in the Spanish and English colonies.

The coin of 10 Gold louis

It is the largest French gold coin. It measures 50mm and weighs 57 grams. Engraving was carried out by Jean Varin, sculptor and engraver French: it represents Louis XIII, king de France. A specimen of 1640 was sold with the biddings for nearly 300,000 euros, a record for a French coin!

Brasher Doubloon

Just like Liberty Head, Brasher Doubloon is a reference as regards numismatics to the United States. It is Ephraim Brasher, a goldsmith, who decided to make strike this coin in a way deprived in 1787. Besides it comprises its initial, EB, on an eagle.

It is the most expensive coin ever sold! And it is also the first coin of a value of a dollar emitted in this country. One Dollar Flowing Hair is a collector's item silver: it was emitted between 1794 and 1795 in the United States and was drawn by Robert Scot, chief engraver of United States Mint.

1804 silver dollar

The 1804 are one of the rarest coins and most popular of the United States. Most known of Muscat” specimen is the “Sultan. It was sold for 4,140,000 dollars in 1999. There exist currently about fifteen coins of this type.

Liberty Head nickel 1913

Liberty Head nickel emitted in 1913 is one of the rarest coins and most known in the United States. It is a coin of a facial value of 5 hundreds which was struck in small quantity. Moreover, United States Mint had not given its consent as for its emission!

1943-S Lincoln Hundred

This coin of 1 hundred is actually an error: the coin of 1943 was supposed being made with blanks of steel coated with zinc. However, of bronze resulting from the production of 1942 was introduced into the production of 1943, making the new coins extremely rare. A collector acquired the 1943-S Lincoln Hundred for a million dollars in 2012.

“The Thinker” of Rodin

It is the first collector's item in euro, emitted in 1996 in tribute to Rodin, missing 80 years earlier: on the whole, 5,000 specimens were struck. This coin represents celebrates it sculpture of Auguste Rodin and are connected with a true work of art thanks to its smoothness of execution.
