Bank Nationale of the Viêt - Nam (Ngân hàng Nhà nu?c Vi?t Nam)


The national bank of the Viêt - Nam was established in 1951 following a Presidential decree Ho Chi Minh. Previously, it is the French government which governed the monetary system of Indo-China thanks to the Indochinese bank. Following the revolution of August 1945, the government of the Republic of the Viêt - Nam wished to exert its own monetary system by taking its independence of France. The national bank of the Viêt - Nam is directed by a governor named by the Prime Minister and accompanied by five deputy governors. Its seat is located at Hanoi.


The first of the functions of this national bank is to promote monetary stability and to lay the monetary policies intended to be put in work in the country. It must also promote the stability of the financial institutions and ensure their supervision. The national bank of the Viêt - Nam plays also the part of adviser attached to the government: it is a question of recommending the application of certain economic policies. In addition, it provides banking services to the government like at the financial institutions. It is also responsible for the monitoring of the commercial banks for the Viêt - Nam.


Lastly, the national bank of the Viêt - Nam must manage the international reserves of the country and emit the national currency which is the dong.
