Currency of Slovakia (Mincovna Kremnica)
Mincovna Kremnica is a factory of currency established and located in 1328 in the town of Kremnica. It is at that time that Charles Robert of Anjou, the Hungarian king, declared Kremnica royal city free. It is as at this period as the factory started to strike coins. The ducat was most known of them because of its good quality. At the end of the First World War, the government ordered the displacement of this factory in Budapest: new machines were thus used and Mincovna Kremnica started to manufacture coins for Czechoslovakia, Slovakia like for 25 other countries.
The euro was launched as Slovakia on January 1st, 2009er and this country is independent of Czechoslovakia since 1993. Nowadays, Mincovna Kremnica belongs to the State and striking the coins as well as the coins commemorative for the national bank of Slovakia. However, this factory has important production capacities as well as high standards of quality: it can thus provide several other countries in coins. In 2006, Mincovna Kremnica opened its own shop located inside the factory. The visitors can also discover an exposure on the currency as well as old and modern manufacturing machine tools.
